UN R131 concerns approval of advanced emergency braking systems for M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles. This version describes the aims of avoiding or mitigating a rear-end collision with a vehicle ahead in the same lane and a collision with a pedestrian. A scope note also provides conditional acceptance of alternative R152 approval for certain hydraulically braked vehicles.

Can R131 and R152 be used interchangeably for every vehicle?
